TMD Therapy

Temporomandibular joint pain is experienced when there is swelling or damage in the joint tissue which is responsible for providing a cushion to the jaw bones every time we open and close our mouth for talking or chewing.

Some of Temporomandibular dysfunction common symptoms are if you are experiencing migraines, earaches, jaw pain, facial pain, facing difficulty in chewing, restricted mouth opening, clenching or cracked teeth due to misalignment.

There can be a number of causes for such a condition, like:

  • Excessive teeth clenching, which can even happen unconsciously while you are asleep.
  • Impact to the chin in an accident or an injury incurred in outdoor activities, sports.
  • Eating hard objects.
  • Clenching while in stress or suppressing anger.
  • Uneven or skewed teeth result in misalignment of upper and lower jaw while chewing.
  • Stress on the joint because of exaggerated movement or opening of mouth while yawning or eating something big.
  • Bite Collapse because of natural degeneration of teeth.

There are a number of methods that are used in TMJ/TMD therapy. In most cases, where damage is in preliminary stages, we suggest simple therapies which can be done at home. In extreme cases, we undertake extensive TMJ/TMD therapy, after complete diagnosis and regular monitoring.
